Hi from Georgia

Rekomendowane odpowiedzi

Hi guys, I'm newbie to this forum and to Poland too. I'm from Tbilisi, Georgia, country of wines and mountains. Now I'm in Krakow, working for a computer company. I had Yamaha WR 426 back there in Georgia and was really enjoying it.

I'd really like to get a dirt bike here so could you guys point me out where to get a bike(partially figured out, found site allegro.pl) and more importantly, I'd like to know if there are some good places to ride enduro near Krakow. If you have some friends off this forum riding dirt bikes near krakow, could you please help me contact them? I'd really like to talk to someone riding a bike, have some beer together :D

I'd also like to find out about legal regulations regarding dirt bikes here in Poland. In Georgia you could plate an MX bike like CRF or YZ, and ride it on the streets, and I'm sure thats not case here in Poland.

Thanks in advance,

Giorgi.

To search motorcycle use Allegro.pl, newspapers and forums.

If the motorcycle is registered and approved for road traffic, and you have the drive licence, you can ride. You must have third party insurance and MOT.

I'm not from Kraków, which is why I can not help you.

Be careful when buying a bike in Poland, most of the people will try to screw you on transaction. When You`ll find some "new" friends in Krakow, ask them to help You choose a bike, ask them to go with You to see the bike.

Welcome to the country of offroad termac :)

If You're lloking for a used bike, Allegro is a good start but we do have dealerships :) KTM (Husaberg as well), Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, BMW (G450X seems to be allowed on roads) and so on. Big capacity enduro will be a problem since here are available mainstream products (no XR650, sorry) and motocrossers can't be registred.

Be careful, have fun :flesje:

Haha, I'm actually used to roads like this, I almost felt at home when saw Polish roads :D Georgia is pretty much the same.

Regarding bike, I'm definitely looking for a used one, I dont have enough money to get a new one and 2007-2008 year bikes are already half of the price of new.

Are you sure that Yamaha WR is registerable here? What I'm ideally looking for is WR450 or EXC300, EXC being better option as I've heard a lot of positive things about them + I'd really like to explore new to me 2stroke world. The thing is that I didn't see them on allegro.pl at all. I found some WR-s out there but all of them are not registered except one, which is priced bit high and looked like abused machine when I went to see it.

G450X is also really sick, but I've heard it has some glitches with fuel injection.

I also wonder if it's possible register a bike after buying it from previous owner, if it's registerable?

Thanks for the help guys, offroad for life :buttrock: :crossy:

Yes, they might try to sell You a bike that has been put together just for sale, with some surprises in the engine, or a crash damaged bike with an aluminium frame that`s been "repaired" in a garden shed.

When ot comes to off-road riding official regualtions are pretty strict. OFICIALLY you are not allowed to ride motorcycles inside state forests. So that leaves only private property or purpose made tracks.

Of course, like with many regulations in our country, nobody gives a shit, and you see lot's of bikes and quads on tourist paths, which in itself is punishable by law - if they catch you.

I'm positive there are special tracks for cross bikes around kraków. Be kind to our forests & mountains and don't ride inside them. They already have tough time as it is.

Wow, really? I just had an ATV tour in Zakopane, saw lots and lots of dirt bike riders and other ATV riders in the forest. Are you absolutely positive about that? I mean maybe there are some routes where riding is permitted? And to be more specific, is riding prohibited only in forests or on all state lands? I really don't want to ride if it isn't permitted and if there's even a tiny chance of getting charged for that...

Cheers

That depends wich model. WR250R and X (new ones) can be registred. I'm not sure about WR250F. About 2 strokers from Yamaha, here the most popular are full cross YZ 125 and 250. Enduro only DT125 (very popular in fact). Anyway, it'll be better if someone with greater knowlage will answer :)

Well, there you go, this is typical Poland - people don't care. Don't care about the regulations, and don't care about the environment.

It's like that - unless the area is private - and there not many of those, and IF you ride on private lands there were cases of peasant chasing bikers with forks, sometimes inflicting damage - ther area is owned by state, and ther legally you can go with motorized vehicles ONLY on public roads. Forest roads are not PUBLIC roads, and besides, there is offical ban on entering state forests with vehicles (unless you have special permit, forestry service and the like). And especially in tatra area this is a never edning war between forestry service and bikers.

But, details aside - in Poland, officialy, you can ride your bike (we are talking off- road riding here) on private land with consent of the owner or on purposefully build tracks. And that's it

But, as you may have noticed, Poles still think that rules are not for them, and you see what you see.... you see?
