Jestem tego samego zdania. O ile Lighning bardzo mi się podoba, to ten nowy model ni cholery nie przypada mi do gustu. Jest jakiś taki dziwny, brzydki. Pozdrawiam

BUELL GETS DIRTY WITH THE NEW ULYSSES XB12X

An Adventure Sportbike Ready for On and Off Pavement

EAST TROY' date=' Wis. -- (Sunday, July 24, 2005) The pavement may end, but the ride continues. For 2006, Buell plays dirty with the Ulysses XB12X, a new adventure sportbike that takes its rider to the end of the road, even if that road is unpaved.

With special Dunlop tires optimized for both street and off-pavement performance and longer-travel suspension, the XB12X is one sport motorcycle that’s not afraid of a little dirt. Under this rugged new profile beats the heart of a Buell with the willing torque of the Thunderstorm 1203 V-Twin engine and a chassis tuned to tame the tightest turns.

“If you ride the back roads, there always seems to be a new adventure waiting beyond the pavement,” said Erik Buell, chairman and chief technical officer at Buell Motorcycle Company. “I think we’ve built a bike that’s very capable off the pavement, but will perform well on urban roads and rural twisties. The Ulysses XB12X is a motorcycle for any road that takes our core design principles of frame rigidity, low unsprung weight and mass centralization in an entirely new direction.”

A dry weight of just 425 pounds combined with the 103-hp output of a Thunderstorm V-Twin engine gives the Buell Ulysses an outstanding power-to-weight ratio. The engine’s broad power band, with abundant grunt at low rpm, suits the demands of low-speed, off-pavement travel. A new transmission provides smooth, quick shifting and quiet operation.

To enhance control and comfort in all riding conditions, the Ulysses XB12X has a 54-inch wheelbase, which is two inches longer than other XB models. The longer wheelbase, a high, wide handlebar, and neutral footpeg location combine to provide a comfortable riding position. The wide, textured seat is designed for all-day rider and passenger comfort. Handlebar-mounted deflectors and a two-piece windscreen designed to limit buffeting also enhance the ride. The hollow aluminum Ulysses frame doubles as a 4.4-gallon fuel tank. Seat height is 33.1 inches.

The Ulysses is supported by fully adjustable, premium Showa front and rear suspension components with 6.5 inches of front travel and 6.4 inches at the rear. Rear spring preload can be adjusted instantly by turning a dial located just below the left side of the seat.

Ground clearance is 6.75 inches. A dual front fender system provides good debris protection for the rider and the bike. The 17-inch, six-spoke, cast-aluminum wheels are designed for durability. Dunlop D616 tires created specifically for the Ulysses have an aggressive, open tread pattern for excellent performance on paved and unpaved roads.

The touring versatility of the Ulysses is enhanced by the Triple Tail system. The Triple Tail folds through three positions to function as a luggage rack over the rear seat position, as an upright backrest/grab rail for a passenger, or as a luggage rack over the full-coverage license plate bracket. The Ulysses has two 10 amp/12-volt accessory power outlets (one on the dash, another under the seat) and a large under-seat storage compartment. Color-matched side cases and top case will be available for the Ulysses, as well as a Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) receiver.

The Buell Trilogy of Technology principles – frame rigidity, mass centralization and low unsprung weight – are applied to great advantage in the Ulysses XB12X design. The lower center of gravity achieved by carrying fuel in the frame, oil in the swingarm, and locating the muffler below the engine makes the Ulysses extremely flickable on paved roads and inspires rider confidence when riding off pavement.

The Buell Ulysses XB12X will be offered with Barricade Orange or Midnight Black bodywork with Graphite Gray frame and swingarm and magnesium-tone wheels.[/quote']

Wygląda na to że drugim nowym Buellem będzie przedłużona wersja XB12Ss, ze zwiększoną pojemnością zbiornika paliwa w ramie i przedłużonym tylnym wahaczem.

NEW LIGHTNING LONG EXTENDS BUELL STREETFIGHTER LINE

New Swingarm and Transmission for All Lightning Models

EAST TROY' date=' Wis. -- (Sunday, July 24, 2005) Buell Motorcycle Company adds the Lightning Long XB12Ss, a streetfighter with expanded rider and passenger positions and revised chassis geometry, to its line of 2006 Lightning motorcycles. All four 2006 Lightning models have a lighter, stiffer swingarm design, a new, smoother-shifting transmission, and other technical updates for 2006.

In addition to the new Lightning Long XB12Ss, the 2006 Lightning line-up includes the Lightning CityX XB9SX, the Lightning XB12S and the Lightning XB12Scg. Each combines an athletic riding position, bold naked styling and the stirring performance of an American V-Twin engine. Inspired by the minimalist profile of a flat-track racer, the Lightning models feature wide handlebars, dual headlights mounted below a short flyscreen, and a clipped, screened-aluminum tail section over a beefy 180mm rear tire.

LIGHTNING TECHNICAL UPGRADES FOR 2006

(see Buell lead release, New Ulysses and Lightning Long Lead Buell Line for 2006, for more details)

– A new transmission features a “dog ring” design for quicker shifts with less effort. Helical-designed gears reduce transmission noise, and the oil-change interval is extended to 10,000 miles from 5,000 miles. Clutch lever effort has also been reduced, by 15 percent on the XB9SX and by 22 percent on the XB12S and the XB12S/cg.

– A durable new Goodyear Hibrex final drive belt with Flexten Plus technology requires no scheduled service or replacement.

– A redesigned swingarm (all models except XB12Ss) is stiffer and 0.56 pounds lighter than the previous design. The swingarm continues to also function as the oil reservoir, and the oil cap has been relocated and redesigned to be easier to access and open. The inner fender and upper and lower belt guards have been restyled.

– The engine air intake has been integrated directly on the air-box cover with an aluminum hex screen that wraps around the fuel cap cowling, replacing the air duct that formerly passed through the frame. Fuel-in-the-frame capacity is increased to 3.82 gallons for all models except the Lightning Long XB12Ss, which holds 4.4 gallons of fuel in its larger frame.

Aggressive Street Performance

Each Lightning model is powered by the Buell Thunderstorm engine, a 45-degree air/oil/fan-cooled V-Twin engine tuned to deliver the broad powerband and tire-twisting torque that’s perfect for real-world street performance. Both the 92-hp Thunderstorm 984 cc and 103-hp Thunderstorm 1203 cc feature electronic fuel injection for precise throttle control. The Thunderstorm 1203 engine also features Buell InterActive Exhaust, which utilizes a valve in the dual-chamber muffler that is controlled by the ECM and adjusts exhaust flow according to riding conditions to smooth torque delivery and optimize engine power.

The Buell Trilogy of Technology design principles – frame rigidity, mass centralization and minimal unsprung weight – contribute to the performance of each Lightning model. Fuel is carried in the massive aluminum frame, engine oil is carried in the swingarm, and the muffler is located below the engine, all in an effort to centralize mass and lower the center of gravity. The Buell Uniplanar engine mounting system reduces vibration to the rider and increases frame rigidity by utilizing the engine as a stressed member of the chassis.

The Buell Zero Torsional Load front brake features a single 375mm rotor mounted near the wheel rim, gripped by a six-piston caliper. Because braking forces are transmitted directly from the rim to the rotor, torsional load at the front wheel is virtually eliminated and brake feel and control is enhanced. Reduced torsional load permits the use of a very lightweight cast aluminum front wheel for a significant reduction in unsprung weight and steering inertia. A lightweight drive belt reduces unsprung weight at the rear. Premium suspension components include a Showa upside-down fork adjustable for pre-load, compression and rebound damping and a fully adjustable Showa coil-over rear shock.

Buell Lightning Long XB12Ss

An extended swingarm and increased fork rake give the new Lightning Long a 54-inch wheelbase, two inches longer than the Lightning XB12S. Fork rake is increased from 21 to 22 degrees and trail goes from 3.3 inches to 4.7 inches. The result is a streetfighter with more relaxed handling and expanded ergonomics better suited to taller riders. The tail section is longer and the seat is taller and wider, and offers more room for a passenger. There’s also a larger under-seat storage compartment. Larger frame side panels give the Lightning Long a fuel-in-frame capacity of 4.4-gallons. Buell InterActive

Exhaust, a valve in the dual-chamber muffler controlled by the ECM that adjusts exhaust flow, gives the Thunderstorm 1203 V-Twin engine smooth torque delivery and optimized power. Like all Buell motorcycles, the handling remains quick and responsive. It is offered in Sunset Orange with Sunset Orange wheels, Midnight Black with Translucent Amber wheels, and Thrust Blue with Translucent Amber wheels, all with a Graphite Gray frame.
